Homage to Collage
In response to the theme ‘Fun & Play’, this work explores
the joyful experimentation collage offers. My animation
celebrates the accessible, spontaneous process of
collage, where creativity thrives in exploration, and
play is as vital as the outcome.
Collage is at the core of my practice; it allows me to embrace the accidental, a misplaced scrap of paper might reveal a new meaning, overlapping images might create humour or surrealism. This freedom to explore without rigid constraints makes collage exciting and engaging.
The animation captures the joy of collage, assembling disparate elements into something entirely new. Through the rhythmic loop of tearing, cutting, layering, and arranging coloured paper and found material, it celebrates the hands-on creative process collage offers. This continuous cycle not only highlights the accessibility of collage but also invites the audience to explore and engage with it in their own personal way.
The magic is not knowing what the final piece will look like - a process where play is as vital as the outcome. Shapes can evolve into form and creativity can spark an explosion of ideas.
